PHA Teaching Awards 2008 ~ 2009

Thank you to all the teachers for allowing observation of your teaching style. You all follow the curriculum beautifully. Some of you follow the curriculum without question as others complement the curriculum with creativity. It was great to see how you extended the lesson with creative and alternative methods of instruction that met the needs of your students. Here are the results of our second Parke House Academy Creative Teaching Contest.

This year the awards were presented for both Upper and Lower Division. We are proud of all our teachers and staff.

Best Use of Curriculum

This award is given to the teacher who teaches the curriculum in the best and truest manner.
Lower Division - Liz Ivey

Most Inviting Classroom

This award is given to the teacher whose classroom promotes learning through laughter and joy.
Lower Division - Ines Valcarcel
Upper Division - Colleen Toy

Best Use of Materials

This award is given to the teacher who compliments instruction with manipulatives from the curriculum or outside resources to meet the needs of all learners.

Students of PHA Celebrate Earth Day

Earth Week was a huge success at PHA! All students participated in fundraisers to collect money for plants and donations for the Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge. Both Upper and Lower Divisions designed and planted a sustainable community garden that the students can enjoy and maintain. They also had a trash-free lunch and wore green to show Earth Day Spirit. To finish off the week, Lower Division welcomed the Central Florida Zoo and Upper Division enjoyed a science-themed concert by Dr. Robert Everett of University of Central Florida also known as Biology Bob.

The Parke House Academy is expanding our campus to better serve our students. It is with great pleasure that we purchased the adjacent properties to the east of our Upper Division. Our architect is designing our gymnasium and we are hopeful for a construction start date of August 01, 2009.
